Tuesday, 19 January 2010
COTABATO CITY, Philippines – Three civilians were killed after a group of suspected Muslim rebels stormed a village in North Cotabato province, a military spokesman said today.

Regional Military Spokesman Major Randolph Cabangbang said about 20 rebels, armed with sophisticated weapons, strafed a residential house Saturday night in the town of Carmen.

Inspector Winston Seniel, the town police commander, said three people were killed in the attack, while some others were injured.

No one group claimed responsibility for the incident but rebels belonging to the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) are active in the area.
